This kit gives you all you need to remove most surface water spots safely.  It is quick and easy to use.

It will dissolve and remove most mineral water spots.

It will not remove etching.  Etching is when minerals have been left on the surface for a long time and have eroded into the surface.  This would require machine polishing.

What are water spots:

Water spots are minerals in the water that are left behind with the water evaporates.  These are normally alkaline like lime, but can be a wide range of minerals.  They can be from tap water, tank or bore water, rain, sprinklers, driving through water, and even pollution and minerals in the air combining with water from rain.

How does it work and what do you need to do:

Clean the surface first.  Work at a small section at a time.  Apply the water spot remover to the foam applicator pad and gently rub.  The water spot remover is a light acid that will dissolve the minerals on the surface.  Wipe these away with one of the included soft roadie microfiber cloths.  Spray the area with the included Autostolz Quick Detailer and Clay Lube to neutralise the water spot remover, and remove remaining residue and wipe clean with the other included soft microfiber cloth.

Always do a small subtle test spot first with any chemical.

Not recommended on matter or wrapped surfaces.  It could work well but you would need to do your own testing.

What will it remove:

It will remove nearly all surface water spots.   It's a very good kit and much quicker and easier than machine polishing.

What will it not remove:

If water spots are left on for a long time, the minerals in some water spots can etch into the surface, etching is when the minerals have eroded into the layer of the surface, taking the top layer away.  Technically the water spot remover will still be effective at removing the remaining minerals on the surface, however you will still see the etching.  This requires machine polishing to remove the top layer of the surrounding surface down to or below the bottom point of the etching.

We have come across cases where people have ceramic coated over the top of water spots.  To fix this you need to machine polishing to remove the ceramic coating and the water spots underneath, then reapply a new ceramic coating, sealant or wax.

In some cases minerals can fuse or bond to some ceramic coatings, physically fusing them to the coating, if this is the case machine polishing and reapplication is required.

We have not come across it, but there may be some minerals that the water spot remover does not dissolve if they are resistant to acids, this would require machine polishing.  In over 8 years supplying professional detailers we have not come across this, but it is possible.

Real world testing with St Johns in Christchurch:

Water Spots aren't just ugly, they are dangerous!  Check out the visibility difference between the window section on the left to the section in this St Johns Ambulance, you can see the section they have done on the left where you can now see through to the mirror (previously you could not), and the section to the right that has not yet need done.

This works on most surface water spots, but not on all.  Some water spots may have etched into the surface in this case you will need to machine polish.

Kit Includes:

473 ml Chemical Guys Water Spot Remover.  This is a very good products that does what it is intender to do.  It is a light acids, and stronger than other water spot removers, it will dissolve most surface minerals, especially those common in New Zealand water that create water spots.

500ml Autostolz Quick Detailer and Clay Lubricant, to safely and easily neutralise the water spot remover.

2 pack Rockcar Show Starter Applicators, to easily and evenly rub with the water spot remover.  This is better than doing it with a cloth as you get more even produce and you avoid the water spot remover soaking through onto your hand.  High quality, made in Korea 70:30 blend.

FREE:  2 pack Rockcar Roadie Microfiber Cloths, to wipe down with the Autostolz Quick Detailer and Clay Lubricant when neutralising.  High quality, made in Korea 70:30 blend.  our pick for a staple everyday microfiber cloth.  These make it much nicer to work, as it is easier to hold the foam applicator, it keeps a flat larger contact point to the surface to you get better results faster, and the large thick foam makes it harder for the water spot remover to soak through to your finders and hand, which makes the job nicer.

Colour of applicator and cloth may vary with availability.
