Why Use A Dedicated Microfiber Detergent?
Many household detergents contain:
- fabric softeners
- perfumes
- fillers
- brighteners
These can reduce microfiber performance over time by coating or clogging the fibers. Dedicated microfiber detergents are especially useful for detailing towels contaminated with polishing oils, ceramic sprays, compounds, metal polish residue, and drying aid products. A proper microfiber detergent is designed to clean effectively while helping maintain:
- absorbency
- softness
- buffing performance
- paint safety
If you look after your microfiber towels properly, they will look after you.
Our Experience Using Fireball Towel Cleaner
This is what Michelle uses to clean all of Adam’s microfiber towels at home. Adam gave Michelle a range of different microfiber cleaners to test, and this was her favourite. It is thicker than many other microfiber detergents and seems to clean heavily contaminated detailing towels particularly well while still helping restore softness and absorbency. Michelle normally uses:
- 1 capful for smaller loads
- 2 capfuls for larger or dirtier loads
Also Excellent For Cleaning Polishing Pads
Fireball Towel Cleaner also works extremely well for cleaning polishing pads. For pad cleaning:
- Mix approximately 10% Fireball Towel Cleaner with 90% water in a spray bottle
- Spray directly onto the pad
- Agitate using a polishing pad brush
- Rinse thoroughly
This works particularly well for removing:
- polish residue
- compound residue
- polishing oils
Additional Uses
Fireball Towel Cleaner can also be used for:
- stain removal
- carpet extraction
- interior fabric cleaning
Suitable for use in:
- carpet extractors
- shampoo buckets
- hand cleaning applications

- Do not overload the washing machine
- Wash heavily contaminated towels reasonably soon after use
- Professional detailers often separate towels by both task and contamination level to help prevent cross-contamination
Recommended For Pad Cleaning
If you regularly clean polishing pads, we recommend pairing Fireball Towel Cleaner with:
- a dilution spray bottle

This makes it much easier to break down heavy polish and compound residue before rinsing. See our Polishing Pad Cleaning Kit here.
