Rockcar Clay Kit – Starter | Clay Bar + Lube + Cloth
Everything you need to clay your car. Nothing you don't.
If you've never clayed your car before, this is where to start. If you have, you already know what you're getting.
Claying is one of the most satisfying things you can do for your paint — you can actually feel and hear the difference as you work. Paint is porous, and over time contaminants like brake dust, industrial fallout, tree sap and road grime embed themselves into those pores. A clay bar is a sticky, pliable substance that grabs those contaminants and pulls them out — leaving paint that feels genuinely smooth, looks sharper, and is properly prepared for whatever comes next.
The Rockcar Starter Clay Kit gives you everything in one box: a professional grade clay bar in the grade of your choice, a 500ml bottle of Autostolz Quick Detailer & Clay Lube, and one Rockcar Pegasus Microfiber Cloth — our finest cloth, made exclusively for LoveCars.
What's in the kit: 1 × Rockcar Professional Grade Clay Bar 100g — your choice of grade 1 × Autostolz Quick Detailer & Clay Lube 500ml 1 × Rockcar Pegasus Microfiber Cloth 480gsm — Pinot Noir (exclusive to LoveCars)
Choose your clay grade:
🟢 Light — safest and easiest. Best for beginners and lightly contaminated paint. Low marring risk, very hard to go wrong.
○ Medium — the one most people need, most of the time. Faster than light, removes more, safe enough for a careful home detailer. If you're not sure, choose this one.
🔴 Heavy — maximum contamination removal for professional use. Higher marring risk — always polish after use.
Why clay before waxing or coating?
If you're planning to apply a ceramic coating, wax, glaze or sealant — claying first isn't optional, it's essential. Coatings bond to bare paint. If your paint is contaminated, your coating bonds to the contamination, not the paint itself. It won't last, and it won't perform. Clay first, coat second. Always.
Even a brand new car benefits from claying. By the time it reaches you it's been through the factory, transport, the port, a dealer forecourt and the drive home. There's more in those pores than you'd think.
About the lube:
The Autostolz Quick Detailer & Clay Lube is formulated for maximum lubrication without breaking down the clay or leaving anything behind on the paint. No wax, no sealant, no residue — just safe, effective lubrication. It's the best choice when preparing a surface for ceramic coating. Antistatic too, which helps slow dust re-accumulation after you're done.
About the cloth:
The Pegasus is the finest cloth we carry. Made to a custom spec — 70/30 polyester/polyamide blend, 480gsm, fully edgeless, cornerless and tagless — colour matched personally to Pegasus Bay Pinot Noir by LoveCars founder Adam, and manufactured in South Korea exclusively for LoveCars. Once you use one you'll want more.
How to use:
- Wash your car thoroughly first to remove loose dirt
- Work in the shade on cool paint
- Tear off about a third of the bar and flatten into a disc
- Spray the Autostolz lube generously onto a panel — more is always better
- Glide the clay across the surface in straight lines with light pressure
- Fold the clay regularly to bring a fresh surface forward
- Wipe with the Pegasus cloth and move to the next panel
- If you drop the clay, throw it away — it will have picked up grit and will scratch your paint
- When you're done, apply a layer of protection — wax, sealant or ceramic coating
