Matte finishes are stunning. They're also unforgiving if you use the wrong products.
Whether you're running matte paint from the factory, a matte vinyl wrap, or matte paint protection film (PPF), the rules are the same — and they're different from everything you know about caring for a gloss car.
Here's why. Gloss paint is smooth. Light hits it and reflects cleanly in one direction, giving you that mirror shine. Matte paint is the opposite — the surface is intentionally textured at a microscopic level, which causes light to scatter in multiple directions. That scattered light is exactly what creates the flat, sophisticated, head-turning look that matte is known for.
The problem is that almost every mainstream car care product on the market is designed to make paint smoother and shinier. Gloss enhancers, shine additives, waxes, polish — all of it works directly against a matte finish. Used regularly, they gradually alter the surface texture, and you'll start to notice uneven, faded, almost whitish patches appearing on your matte panels. The damage is slow and easy to miss until one day you realise it's gone too far.
You cannot polish matte paint back to health. Once the texture is gone, it's gone.
The same goes for dishwashing liquid. We know it's a habit for a lot of people. On a matte car, it's a slow way to ruin an expensive finish.
What matte surfaces actually need
Matte paint, wraps, and PPF need products that clean effectively without touching the surface texture. That means pH-neutral formulas, no gloss enhancers, no shine additives, no waxes, no polish — ever. It also means paying attention to your wash technique. A soft wash mitt, a two-bucket setup with grit guards, washing in straight lines, and drying with a deep soft microfibre all reduce the risk of fine scratches that are more visible and harder to address on matte than on gloss.
The good news is that with the right products and a bit of care, matte finishes are genuinely easy to maintain and they look incredible for years.
What you'll find in this collection
Everything here is formulated specifically for matte surfaces. Nothing in this range contains gloss enhancers or shine additives. These products are also safe to use on gloss paint, so if your car has a mix of gloss and matte panels, you can use matte-safe products across the whole car without any issues.
If you're unsure where to start, the Matte Auto Wash is your foundation — a pH-neutral wash for routine cleaning. Add the Matte Snow Foam as a pre-wash to loosen contamination before you touch the car, and keep the Matte Quick Detailer in your glovebox for safe spot cleaning on the go. Together, they cover every situation your matte finish is likely to face.
These products are also safe for satin finishes — satin paint, satin wraps, and satin PPF all benefit from the same matte-safe, no-gloss-enhancer approach.
Everything you need to care for your matte finish. Nothing you don't. If you own a matte car, a matte wrap, or matte PPF — this is where to start. ...
