There are a lot of trim options, it can be confusing, here's what you need to know.

Preparation it key, products need to soak into the plastic or rubber, if there is dirt, wax or old trim shine (especially those horrible spray silicones) then no matter how goof the product is if it can't soak in it will just sit on the surface and wash off.  90% off the time is someone isn't having trim last its because of this.  

There are different types of trim shines:

Water based products like Chemical Guys VRP, Silk Shine look natural and don't have dust stick to them but can run in the rain, these are best on interior surfaces or classic cars that won't go out in the rain.  We do not recommend these for exterior trim, unless your car will not get wet.

Oil based products like ValetPRO Maximum Shine and Chemical Guys forever black tyre gel, Extreme Shine and Galactic Black are shiny, more resistant to water and last longer, but are oily, can splatter and dust can stick to them.  

Ceramic Products like those from Fireball last longer and look natural, this is what we recommend.  You can choose your preferred level of shine.  Matte, Gloss, "Janus" or Showcar (their shiniest).  Fireball makes the most advance ceramic coatings in the world, they would be our recommendation.  

Solution Finish is a restorer, it contains ground up carbon.  You must wear gloves.  It will restore very faded plastic and is very good at this, it is not a normal everyday trim shine.

In my garage I use Fireball Satin, Janus and Show Car, I'd be happy with any one of those.  I have Solution Finish for anything really bad.

Tip:  While you can use any applicator, the Wave applicator is what we recommend for tyre and trim.  It's wave pattern pushes product into the gaps and grooves on tyres, and the straight firm edge makes it easy to control on trim to avoid getting product on paint etc.  It has 2 types of foam to help reduce it soaking through to your fingers, which we like.
