A clean car is great. A protected car is even better.
One of the secrets to keeping your vehicle looking its best is applying a protective layer to the paintwork. Protection helps create a smoother surface that dirt, water, and contamination struggle to stick to. Your car will still get dirty, but it will be easier to clean, easier to dry, and maintain its shine for longer.
Browse by protection type:
Waxes & Sealants – Easy-to-apply protection that improves gloss, water beading, and makes future washes easier
Paste Waxes – Traditional wax protection with excellent gloss and depth
Ceramic Coatings – Long-term protection with excellent durability, chemical resistance, gloss, and water repellency
A common misconception is that ceramic coatings are simply longer-lasting waxes. While both help protect your paintwork, they work very differently.
Waxes and sealants form a sacrificial layer on top of the paint. Over time this layer gradually wears away and can be removed and reapplied whenever needed. This makes them a flexible and forgiving option for many vehicle owners.
Ceramic coatings bond permanently or semi-permanently to the surface. They offer outstanding durability, gloss, and water beading, but unlike a wax or sealant they cannot simply be washed off and reapplied. While a wax or sealant can normally be removed with a strong wash using a product such as Autostolz Alkaline Wash, a ceramic coating typically requires machine polishing to remove.
Some products, such as glazes, can temporarily increase gloss and help hide minor paint imperfections. Think of them as makeup for your paintwork. They can improve appearance but do not permanently remove defects. For a permanent correction of scratches, swirls, and paint defects, visit our Polishes & Compounds section.
There is no single "best" form of protection. The right choice depends on how you use your vehicle, how much maintenance you're willing to do, and the level of durability you're looking for.
