Chemical Guys Heavy Duty Water Spot Remover is one of the most effective products we’ve tested for removing stubborn mineral deposits from paint, glass, chrome, and polished metal. It’s a genuine Lovecars best seller with both DIYers and professional detailers because, used correctly, it works fast and works well.

But like many strong detailing chemicals, understanding what it does — and what it doesn’t do — is important.

What This Product Actually Does

Water spots are minerals left behind when water evaporates. These minerals can bond to the surface and leave white or cloudy marks on paint and glass.

This product uses a mild acidic gel formula to chemically dissolve and remove those mineral deposits.

It is not a polish or abrasive compound. It removes the minerals themselves — not damaged clear coat or etched glass.

That distinction matters.

If the spots disappear after use, they were mineral deposits.

If marks remain after treatment, the minerals have likely etched into the surface. At that point, machine polishing or glass polishing may be required to fully correct the damage.

In our experience, this product works extremely well most of the time, but water spot removers are a tool — not a guarantee for every situation.

Why Customers Love It

  • Quickly dissolves hard water spots and mineral deposits
  • Works on paint, glass, chrome, and polished metals
  • Gel formula gives better control and dwell time
  • Fast and easy to use compared to machine polishing
  • Helps restore a smooth, clean surface
  • Excellent prep before waxes, sealants, or ceramic protection

Important Usage Information

This is an acidic product and should be used carefully and correctly.

Do not allow the product to dry on the surface.

Always wipe off thoroughly and neutralise the area afterwards using water or a quick detailer.

We strongly recommend working on cool surfaces out of direct sunlight.

Use caution around delicate finishes, trims, and mirrors. Some mirrors and modern automotive glass can have sensitive anti-glare or specialty coatings which may be damaged by acidic cleaners.

As with any chemical product, always test in a small inconspicuous area first.

At Lovecars, we spend a lot of time educating customers about correct use because realistic expectations and proper technique make a huge difference with water spot removers.

How To Use

  1. Work on a cool surface out of direct sunlight
  2. Clean the area first using a quick detailer and microfiber towel
  3. Apply 3–5 small dots onto a microfiber applicator
  4. Gently spread over a small section (approximately 60 × 60 cm)
  5. Lightly agitate if required
  6. Wipe away residue with a clean microfiber towel
  7. After use, always neutralise and wipe down the area using water or a quick detailer such as Autostolz Quick Detailer & Clay Lube.
  8. Protect the surface with a wax, sealant, or ceramic protection product

Important Notes

  • Do not let product dry on the surface
  • Avoid prolonged contact with sensitive trims, plastics, rubber, mirrors, or specialty-coated glass.
  • Use caution on mirrors and specialty-coated glass
  • Some mineral deposits may require multiple applications
  • Etching cannot be chemically removed and may require machine polishing
  • This product removes mineral deposits, not physical surface damage.
